Congratulations to all of the band students on their excellent performances last week at the Spring Concert. I was very proud of each performing group, and it was a pleasure to share all of the music we have been working on with such an appreciative audience.
Congratulations to Phoebe Schneider who was the very deserving recipient of the 2017 Musician’s Award.
A big thank you is extended to Josh Underhay for his assistance and participation at the concert and for all of the work he has done with the Jazz Band and the Glee Choir this year. Thank you to Mark Rooney and Damon Myers for their technical assistance during the show. As always, I am grateful to our administrators for their support on concert nights, and throughout the year.
The donations we received at the door will be used to support the extra-curricular components of the band program. Thank you so much for your generosity!
A few reminders:
1. Thank you to the grade 7, 8, and 9 students who handed in band sweaters following the concert. If, for some reason, your child was unable to return their sweater on Wednesday evening I would really appreciate it they would pass it in on Monday to the band room or main office.
2. Instrument and band book inventory will be carried out over the next two weeks. Students must have instruments, books and music binders with them for all band classes until the end of June.
3. I will be meeting with Mr. Langille at Birchwood on Monday to discuss the transitions that will be taking place within our band programs due to rezoning. I hope to be able to better answer questions regarding instrument assignments, percussion and saxophone auditions, and year-end procedures for instrument inventory following that meeting. This is new territory for us and we will do our best to make things work for our students.
I am still accepting Intermediate and Senior band applications for band camp. Please hand forms and payments in on Monday in the main office or the band room!
Band Camp Application Form
All Stonepark band students are strongly encouraged to attend the 2017 Band Camp which is being held this year at Charlottetown Rural High School from August 21-26.
Stonepark is always very well represented at all three levels (beginner, intermediate and senior) of the camp, and I hope to see the same response this year. If your child is unlikely to practice over the summer, this is a great way to make up for lost time and to get prepared for band in September! Attending the camp also provides a great opportunity for Stonepark students to get to know music students from other school band programs.
Please click on the Band Camp Information tab in the menu at the top of this page for more details!

*Grade 9 band students, and students who will not be attending Stonepark next year, will be asked to hand in their band sweaters in the cafeteria following the concert. I would appreciate having two parent volunteers from each grade level to help with this task. Please let me know if you can help.
I look forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday evening!
Due to the holiday tomorrow, Grade 7 lunch time band rehearsal will be held on Wednesday from 12:35-1:15.
We had a fantastic trip to Sackville and Fredericton, and I would like to thank all of the grade 9’s for making this year’s band trip so much fun!
Please note that Grade 9 early morning band rehearsal is canceled for Tuesday morning. We will have a regular grade 9 rehearsal on Thursday.
Enjoy your long weekend!
