Band Camp 2017

This year’s band camp will be held from Monday, August 21st to Saturday, August 26th at Charlottetown Rural High School.

The schedule is:

Monday: 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Tuesday-Friday:  9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

*The intermediate/senior ensembles & bands will perform on Friday afternoon.

Saturday:  9 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (beginners only)

The address for CRHS is 100 Raider’s Road in Charlottetown.
Parents will be required to provide transportation to and from the school.

All students must bring lunch each day.

Band Camp is peanut-free and scent-free.

*Please note that registration for Stonepark students was completed in early June and the camp is now full.

Band Camp Instruments

Instruments were delivered today for grade 7 and 8 students who will be attending band camp, then attending Birchwood in the fall.

I made an announcement this morning asking students to pick these instruments up in the band room at the end of the day, but with the excitement of getting report cards and getting sprung for the summer, a few have been left behind!

I would appreciate it if all of the Birchwood instruments could be picked up tomorrow morning before 10:30 (I will be involved with the closing ceremony at 11:00) or between 1:00 and 3:30 tomorrow afternoon.  Please contact me if those times are not workable so that we can make another plan.

Grade 9 students who requested CRHS instruments may pick them up tomorrow in the band area following the closing ceremony.

Grade 9 students who had signed out their instruments for the Jazz Band performance must return those instruments BEFORE the closing.

Jazz Band Event Cancelled!

Please read below the following important update from Mr. Underday.  This is too bad…I was looking forward to hearing you play.

Inventory plan:  Grade 7 and 8 Jazz Band members must return instrument to the band room before their report cards are distributed on Monday.  Grade 9 Jazz Band students must return instruments before the Grade 9 Closing on Tuesday.  Thank you and have a great weekend!

Just got off the phone with Rowan Fitzgerald. Unfortunately, due to rain, the gig is cancelled.
Bummer! You guys were sounding great. I was looking forward to it!

Instrument Inventory

 Inventory is now underway in the band room. Band students are asked to bring their instruments and band books to their next band class. 

All instruments are to be turned in for the summer this year
*Students who are attending band camp, and who will be returning to Stonepark next year, will be permitted to sign out an instrument for the summer after inventory has been completed.
Students who will be attending Birchwood in September will be assigned a Birchwood instrument. Mrs. Peters will be making a list of students who are requesting Birchwood instruments for band camp.

Notice to Stratford Elementary Alumni

Ellen Davis, music teacher at Stratford Elementary, has asked me to share the following information with Stonepark students.  It sounds like a great event!

Notice

Students who attended Stratford Elementary and were involved in any of the seven musicals presented since 2010, are invited to sing in the school’s Alumni Concert on Tuesday, June 20th at 7pm. We’re having a rehearsal this Friday, the 16th, from 3:45 to 5:00, and again on the evening of the concert at 5:45, to run thru a couple of pieces from each musical: Pirates, Treasure Island, Fame, Willy Wonka, Aladdin, Annie, and Lion King. All students are welcome to sing all the songs, or, just the ones they performed in.

There’s a multi-cultural theme to the event, celebrating the 30 nationalities represented by the student population. A cake, cupcakes and traditional treats will be served!

All are welcome! If students contact me in advance, great, if not, no worries, they can just show up on Friday!

 

Theme: Celebrating Stratford Elementary students from 2010 when the school opened, to the present, and the musical talent and diversity we’ve enjoyed during this time!

Concert date: Tuesday, June 20th, 7pm

You are invited to this exciting end of the year concert, to enjoy a variety of performances, including excerpts from the seven musicals performed by Stratford students since 2010, a ukulele group, recorder group, and the school’s rock band. Some former students are joining us to make the event extra-special!

Participating students are asked to wear their choir uniforms, white on top/black on bottom.

At the close of the celebration, we hope to serve a few treats, including a special cake featuring a picture of the world with flags marking our students’ nationalities, cup cakes, and traditional, non-perishable foods from various countries. If you happen to have a few spare moments and may be free to provide a dozen or two cupcakes, or be interested in preparing a traditional baked good, recipe provided, please indicate below! Visit from the Director of the Public School’s Branch

Mr. Grimmer came by to visit this afternoon.  He even played the bass drum adn the tambourine during this grade 7 band class!
