Congratulations to the grade 8 and grade 9 band students on their excellent performances at PEI Band Days!
Just a quick reminder that all extra-curricular band rehearsals are now finished until after March Break.
We will follow the regular schedule again beginning on Monday, March 25th.
There is some winter weather in the forecast so I wanted to share some contingency plans for the next couple of days!
If school goes ahead tomorrow, there will be an early morning band rehearsal for grade 8 students, and a grade 9 band rehearsal from 12:35-1:15 p.m. to prepare for Band Days. Grade 9 early morning band is canceled on Tuesday (March 5th) and Grade 8 early morning band is canceled on Wednesday (March 6th). Early morning band rehearsals will resume after March Break.
If school is canceled tomorrow (Monday), I will make sure that the back door to the school, and the door to the band area, are both open by 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning. This should allow plenty of time for any grade 8 students who left instruments at school to pick them up and meet us at the Delta by 8:30 a.m.. The school may also be open on Monday even if school is canceled. Please call the main office at 902-368-6085 to confirm before making the trip.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!
The grade 8 and 9 bands will be participating in the P.E.I. Band Days Festival to be held at the Delta Convention Center on lower Queen Street in Charlottetown on Tuesday, March 5th (grade 8) and Wednesday, March 6th (grade 9). Full participation in this event includes performing and listening to other bands.
All P.E.I. Band Days performances are free and are open to the public. Parents, relatives, and friends of band students are welcome to attend.
Students are responsible for arriving at the Delta ready to play, with their own instruments and music. Full uniforms, including black dress pants, dark shoes, band sweaters, and white dress shirts, are required for these performances.

If these doors are not open yet, students may use the main entrance.
The Grade 8 concert band set-up time is scheduled for 8:30 a.m., with a formal 30 minute warm-up at 9:00 a.m., followed by our adjudicated performance in the main ballroom at 9:30 a.m.. Grade 7, 8 and 9 Band students are now preparing for upcoming concerts and festivals. The students have been working very hard lately, and the music is sounding great!
Please note that rehearsal time is very important at this time of the year, and we need to have full participation from all band members in order to move forward together as a team. Rehearsal attendance is marked daily in SAS. Please send me an e-mail if your child is unable to attend a rehearsal due to illness, appointments, etc.
Thank you for your continuing support. I appreciate all of the drives to early morning band practices, and the support that you provide in encouraging your children to practice at home and to participate fully in all band activities at school!
